two more to share

I wanted to write one last post for 2022, and share two paintings that I just recently completed. I’ve been feverishly working on another painting, similar to a painting I posted a few months ago (Dreaming About A Life To Come), but it won’t be finished until January 2023. Things just got too busy. 🤪

It’s what I live for

Yeah, that’s the title of the painting, but it sort of fits the other way too, because IT IS what I live for. 😊 It has almost been exactly three years now since I started on this venture, and I feel I’m continuing to grow and learn new things as an artist. Honestly, I don’t see that ever stopping. Once you think you have something figured out, you find another way to do it better. That’s part of what makes some of the older paintings extra special to me, because I see things that I would have changed, but then again, they’re perfect the way they are. It’s the never-ending cycle of learning— not just art, but anything.

It all reminds me of the great Alan Watts quote…

“The meaning and purpose of dancing is the dance. Like music also, it is fulfilled in each moment of its course. You do not play a sonata in order to reach the final chord, and if the meaning of things were simply in ends, composers would write nothing but finales.” -Alan Watts

This painting is quite large, and took some time to complete. I have more information about it here. Here’s the poem that I wrote for it. 📚

I want to forget those days
But I can’t— My mind it replays
Each decision— The thoughts of mistakes
And how it all makes my heart ache—
Trying desperately to forget a past
Of sadness— I reach out to grasp
Happiness— Only to find myself clutching
The wind and there’s nothing—
And yet now when I dream
Of happiness it seems
Bewildered— It never existed before—
Not until I forced open a door
Revealing a passion—
Revealing satisfaction—
That I knew my soul needed
For peace— It was then I proceeded
To let go— To forget all I was taught
Along with the sorrow it brought—
The worries are worries no more—
This new life— It’s what I live for

It’s What I Live For

lost in my thoughts

Again, the title suits me well. I’m constantly lost in thought. Seriously… 😜

This was a smaller watercolor that I did for someone. It had a home before the brush ever touched the paper. I’m really happy with the finished product. It may be one of my favorite watercolors that I’ve done yet. I know, I say that about everything, but it’s true…LOL

This is the first painting that I’ve done where I didn’t frame it. There’s a reason behind that. 😉 You can find more information about this painting here. You’ll find the poem for it there also. BTW, if you don’t know it already, I write poems for each of my paintings. It’s two pieces of art merged into one. 😁

Lost In My Thoughts

That’s all for now

I hope the upcoming holidays are kind to each and every one of you. I appreciate & love you all! Also, a super big thank you to those that have my artwork hanging in your homes now. I hope you cherish it for many, many years to come. I’m going to continue to make you proud of what you have. ☺️

Wishing you all the best! See you in 2023! 🥳
