A bright and colorful fusion between a sunflower and the sun itself. I wanted to show the intensity of the sun in the petals of the sunflower, while keeping the center/head an inviting green & yellow. This is more of a mixed media painting because I used some ink to provide depth and texture. I also distressed the paper after I finished painting it. I felt this gives it more of a ‘raw’ feel, which works well with the saturated colors and subject matter.

The artwork size is roughly 10 1/4” x 7 1/4” on standard watercolor paper. Instead of using a protective acrylic with the frame, I decided to go with a Golden protective UV topcoat. It brings out the deep colors of the watercolor, while also providing protection. This allows you to view the details of the painting without a layer of acrylic in between. The painting is dry mounted to an archival mounting board that can be removed (if necessary) without damaging it. The framed size (which includes the linen liner) is 13 7/8” x 11”.
